Oral Health: Don't Ignore Your Gums

When you go to your dentist, you are likely concerned about cavities and the stains on your teeth. If you are like me, then you probably never thought much about your gums. Unfortunately, this caused me to form a serious gum recession condition. My dentist said that hard brushing practices, poor flossing techniques, and even the consumption of sugary foods led to the recession. After some deep scaling treatments, I was informed that I needed a gum graft procedure. The gums are extremely important to your health. They provide your teeth with the nutrients they need and they protect the sensitive dental roots. The gums even keep bacteria away from your jaw bone. Don't ignore your gums like I did. Read my blog and learn about proper oral care techniques. Prevention practices can easily save your gums from necessary restoration.

2 Ways To Fight Off Your Wrinkles

As you age, your skin starts to lose collagen and elasticity. It also loses some of that plumpness that your skin should have. That means that you are going to end up with wrinkles. There are ways that you can help fight off wrinkles on your face and help to make sure that you fight the appearance of aging. So, what are some of those things?

Botox

One of the things that you can do to help fight off your wrinkles is to get Botox fillers. The injections have a weakened version of the toxin that causes botulism. In the form that you will get from the injectable, it won't hurt you at all. What it will do is to paralyze the nerve endings at the injection site. That paralysis is temporary, so your face isn't going to freeze like that for the rest of your life. However, paralyzing those nerves will mean that they can't cause the muscles to move, which means that your wrinkles aren't going to show. You will have to get the Botox injections redone on a regular basis, and you are going to have to have more than one injection per shift.

Fillers

Another option is to go with fillers. With fillers, you are getting a product that will get injected into the area around the wrinkles. The filler will plump up the area and help to give your skin back some of the elasticity that it lost. There are different kinds of fillers that you can choose to use. You and your doctor will talk about what kind of results you are looking for and what fillers will give you those results. Your doctor may also suggest things like a combined product that will have both something like Botox and a filler in it. That way you are only getting one injection at a time in any given area. Again, as with the straight Botox injection, you may have to get these injections done on a regular basis to make sure that you are keeping the results that you were looking for. Your doctor will be able to make all those suggestions to you and let you know what you are going to need to do.

If you want to fight your wrinkles, there are things that you can do to help keep those wrinkles from getting out of hand and betraying your age.
